RACE WITH THE WIND! - Saturday, August 16th, 2014
46 mile Gravel Grinder Endurance Race
This is not an easy course! It is rugged, varied terrain, with ups and downs throughout the course. Cross bikes be prepared.
Use your heavy off road tubes & tires. There are sections where you have a definite advantage, but this race is a
race of “character, Tug Hill character”. 300 inches of winter snow character. A short farming season, with rocky uncooperative
soil character. Enough character to embrace the largest wind farm east of the Mississippi character and 40 mile
per hour windburn on your face character...so prepare yourself and come “Race With the Wind”!
10 Mile Fun Race
This course was designed with the community in mind. Much of the route is rolling, gentle terrain through the heart of the
Wind Farm. Towards the end of the course, the terrain gets a little rough, and there are some uphill sections, giving the
race a few challenges. We hope you take this opportunity to bring your family for a morning of biking through the Wind
Farm on Tug Hill...prepare yourself and come “Race With the Wind”!
If you plan to go tandem, please make a note of it on the Registration Form.
Black River Canoe and Kayak Race "The Black River Challenge"
The 4th Annual Black River Canoe and Kayak Race will start at the DEC Boat Launch in Glenfield, NY and will end at the DEC Boat Launch in Castorland, NY.
The distance is 23 miles, and there are no carries. The Black River will provide a twisty, winding race course that is at times a fast-moving current with varying depths and various minor hazards (mid-river rocks and shoals, old locks, bridge abutments, and downed trees embedded in the river bottom).
