Featuring the popular Treasure Quest!
Before starting the tour...
This year's Fall Foliage Tour winds through the Southwest and Northeast parts of Lewis County. As it was last year, this year's Tour is two days long. Along the way, you will encounter many intriguing and historically significant sites and locales.
We have added a Treasure Quest to each day of the event. Details and directions for the Treasure Quest follow these instructions. A very exciting part of the Treasure Quest is the $500 cash prize, sponsored by The Edge Hotel. To compliment the Treasure Quest, the tour is divided into several categories: Quest Stops (where Questers have their cards stamped), Historic Treasures (points of interest with historic value), Natural Treasures (points of interest with information about nature), Current Treasures (current businesses or non-nature locations that are noteworthy), and of course, Treasure Fare (places to enjoy a meal or buy a snack).
At each Stop and Quest Stop, you are invited to get out of your vehicle, have a look around, and converse with representatives at the site. Historic and Natural Treasures are typically intended only to be read about as you drive by.
We recommend that you review the route ahead of time, select the stops that you find most interesting, and plan your time accordingly. This way you won't run out of time and you can enjoy the scenery as you travel through beautiful Lewis County.
A map of the tour is included and additional directions are given preceding each stop. The directions will take you through the Osceola, West Leyden, Constableville, Turin, and Martinsburg ares on Saturday.
On Sunday, we will travel through the Harrisville, Croghan, New Bremen and Dadville areas. However, you can easily drive the route backwards: just reverse the directions and remember that some of the write-ups are written from the perspective that you are traveling the route as it's presented in this booklet. Each stop is marked with a numbered sign and most of the points of interest are marked as well.
Take your time and enjoy the trip. When you have completed the tour, let us know how you liked it. We appreciate any comments and suggestions you may have.
